Retirement of Dr Susan Wall

It is with mixed emotions that I am writing to let patients know that after 23 years at Heath Lane Medical Centre, I will be retiring at the end of this month.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my career in Medicine, which has spanned 35 years and included working in both hospital medicine and general practice. I spent 10 years in Australia, working in hospital and then in general practice, where I gained a wealth of experience. I then returned to my home county of Cheshire and joined Heath Lane Medical Centre in 2003, where I have been fortunate enough to work ever since.

It has been an enormously rewarding career, although, as with any career in medicine, there have of course been challenging and stressful times along the way. Nevertheless, I have thoroughly enjoyed my work and feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to care for so many patients and to get to know them and their families over the years.

I will miss the patients enormously, as well as all the wonderful colleagues and staff I have had the pleasure of working alongside. Heath Lane has been a very important part of my life, and I will take away many happy memories of my time here.

Although I will be sad to leave, I am also very much looking forward to the next chapter — spending more time with my new granddaughter, enjoying time with family and friends, and having more time for my hobbies, including golf and travelling.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my patients for their kindness, trust and support over the years. It has been a real privilege to be your GP, and I will look back on my career with great fondness.
